TOM RAMEY

I grew up in a small farming town in Texas, with a brief, formative detour in Detroit during my early teens. At 18, I joined the U.S. Navy and spent nearly six years attached to the USS Ronald Reagan, living in four states and two countries along the way. After my service, I spent a year in Guam, where my wife was stationed, before we eventually settled with our three daughters and two oversized dogs in Delaware.

My love for thrillers and horror began long before it probably should have. I read my first novel, Dr. Death by Jonathan Kellerman, at age 12 and never looked back. I’ve been shaped by the works of Stephen King, John Sandford, and J.A. Konrath.

I write gritty, character-driven urban crime fiction inspired by my time in Detroit, where I witnessed the complex reality of people doing what they must to survive. Gang members who were devoted fathers. Drug dealers who looked out for kids in their neighborhoods. These are the kinds of people who populate my stories, not heroes or villains, but human beings navigating flawed systems and impossible choices. Through my writing, I aim to explore the gray areas of morality and provoke reflection on how we judge others and ourselves.
